Shripad Tuljapurkar’s research interests cover a wide range of questions about populations, including:

Evolutionary Ecology and Genetics:
  • Stochastic population dynamics, life history evolution, stage-structured population dynamics, mark-recapture analyses, phenotypic dynamics, and evolutionary dynamics
  • Human Demographic Change and Contemporary Societiesincluding aging, mortality change, sex-ratio bias, social security, pensions and retirement
  • Prehistory and Human Evolutionincluding the demography of early agricultural populations in Hawaii and elsewhere, and the evolution of hierarchies such as chiefdoms and states
  • Biodemography of Lifespanin plants and animals (including humans), and in social organisms such as honeybees.
